4.5 million dirhams in prizes from the Al Sila' Festival

Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Region, November 28, 2023: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, the Marine Goods Festival, in its third edition, will be launched on the shore of the Goods City in the Al Dhafra Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, from next December 6 to 10, organized by the Festivals Management Committee. Cultural and heritage programs in Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in cooperation with the Emirates Heritage Club.
The organizing committee of the festival held a press conference yesterday morning at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, during which it reviewed the intensive preparations for the launch of the festival, and the value and number of prizes allocated for the competitions, in the presence of Salem Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club, and Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Director of the Planning and Projects Department of the Festivals and Programs Management Committee. Culture and Heritage in Abu Dhabi, Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of the Committee’s Events and Communications Department, and Majid Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, along with many media representatives, Nawakhthas, and athletes participating in the festival.
Saeed Al Muhairi, Director of the Specific Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The Marine Commodity Festival enhances the role of traditional sailing sports in society, as part of the authentic heritage of the Emirates, as marine sports shed light on the heritage and contribute to transmitting it to future generations, appreciating the efforts.” The organizing committee of the festival aims to achieve the successive successes of the festival and the various sporting and heritage events and competitions it includes.”
Zayed Sari Al Mazrouei, Head of the Events Department at the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, explained during the press conference, “The Marine Goods Festival presents over 5 consecutive days maritime and sports competitions, heritage and modern, of which there are 30 competitions, for which 547 cash prizes worth... 4 million and 497 thousand dirhams.”
Al Mazrouei pointed out that the festival includes the goods race for 43-foot sailboats, the Barakah sailing race, the Al Bwanish sailing race, the goods championship for Shaari fishing, the Hadad Championship, and other sports, beach, and heritage competitions, and popular games. It also hosts the first leg of the Al Dhafra Grand Kingfishing Championship for men and women, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and includes both men’s and women’s categories, and 10 prizes are allocated for each category, with a total of 20 prizes worth 460 thousand dirhams.
He added that the festival offers its visitors various entertainment activities, popular shows, and competitions for the public, through the popular market, whose activity begins at four in the afternoon and continues until ten in the evening, and the productive families’ stores offer many distinctive products, and the pavilions of the participating and supporting entities have interesting programs and programs.
