Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa: A grand celebration of marine sports in 2023

UAE, Abu Dhabi, December 29, 2023: Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Marine Sports Federation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the year 2023 witnessed a distinguished harvest locally and internationally at the level of marine tournaments and festivals.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan explained that this season witnessed the organization of many festivals in marine clubs from Khor Fakkan to Al Sela’a, in addition to various modern and traditional marine championships, which contributed to the sea having its distinctive character, in addition to the definition of marine heritage included in these festivals. And the popular heritage of the Emirates.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan spoke about the diversity in traditional marine sports and the holding of the most important races, such as the historic 60-foot Delma Festival, the sixth edition launched last May.
He said: "This season's Delma Festival, which was organized in cooperation with the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi and the Emirates Heritage Club, has established its strong presence with the support of the wise leadership, by providing all the requirements for its excellence and success. What distinguishes it is that it is the longest long-distance race.".
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan explained that the international marine harvest this season was also distinguished by the various Abu Dhabi teams, with gold and the title of the Formula 2 World Championship, silver in the World Jet Ski Championship, and runner-up for speed and teams in the Formula 1 World Boat Championship, and also similar achievements for modern sailing in External tournaments.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan pointed to the most important sporting events in 2023, including the Asian Optimist Championship in Abu Dhabi for the first time, and Sharjah’s organization of the final round of the Formula 1 World Boat Championship, in addition to Fujairah’s hosting of the X-CAT World Championship, which represents a positive indicator. On the spread and presence of important international sports in various parts of the Emirates, with the efforts and support of maritime clubs.
He also stressed the interest in making sustainable sports present on the agenda in tournaments and festivals, towards an environment that preserves the gains of the present and anticipates the future for future generations in light of the great development and maritime renaissance that the Emirates is witnessing.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan thanked all the marine clubs for their great efforts, which contributed to the development of marine sports and the organization of various tournaments, making this season one of the best seasons for marine sports.
