“Team Abu Dhabi” participates with 31 young sailors in the UAE Modern Sailing Championship

Abu Dhabi, January 15, 2024: The Abu Dhabi Modern Sailing Team has entered the final preparation stage for its first participation in 2024, which is the Emirates Modern Sailing Championship, which will be held in Dubai next Saturday and Sunday, organized by the Dubai Marine Sports Club, and supervised and followed by the Emirates Marine Sports Federation.

The team is participating in the tournament with 31 young sailors in the Optimist, Elka 4, Elka 6, and Elka 7 categories.
This championship is one of the strong preparation stations for young sailors in the various categories of modern sailing, in which a large number of maritime clubs and sailing schools in the country participate, and its rounds will extend during the current season to seven rounds that will conclude next November.
The Abu Dhabi team aspires to continue to qualify a strong generation of young sailors and provide ideal preparation for effective participation at all continental and global levels.
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Head of the Modern Sail Academy Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, said that the most important goals of the participation of a large number of sailors in the tournament are the preparation and continuous development of the skills and performance of young sailors, and giving them opportunities to enter the atmosphere of competitions and challenges early.

He explained that the age of the oldest sailor among the participants is 23 years old. In comparison, the youngest is 9 years old, expressing his optimism for the future in light of the intensive and thoughtful preparation programs and important qualitative participation, which provide them with strong opportunities for interaction locally and abroad, to measure their development indicators periodically and determine their technical needs.
