The 22-feet sailboat race begins the day after tomorrow as part of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Festival

Abu Dhabi, January 25, 2024: The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club will organize the 22-foot sailboat race tomorrow, Saturday, as part of the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival.

The race starts from the top of Al Mussanah Island for a distance of 7 nautical miles towards the finish line in front of the club headquarters on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, with the participation of more than 50 loaders.
This category of races finds great demand from young people who are keen to experience it, learn about the secrets of sailing on small sailboats, and take on its challenges, as it represents the first stop on the ladder of heritage races, from which sailors move on to the larger categories.
The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club attaches great importance to heritage races, and the club’s program includes organizing many of them, on various occasions, in support of heritage preservation efforts.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Head of the Heritage Races Department, at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, confirmed that heritage races represent the basic foundation for the continuation of the glow of the marine heritage, which our fathers and grandfathers lived through in the past decades, and the club is now offering it to the youth of the nation so they can learn about the value of going to the sea, and what its waves carry. goodness.
He said that the Abu Dhabi Maritime Festival program includes, in addition to the 22-foot sailboat race, another 43-foot sailboat race, which will be held in the first week of next February.
