The Abu Dhabi Marine Festival honors UAE Remote Controle Boat Championship, modern rowing, and kayaks for people of determination

Abu Dhabi, January 29, 2024: The UAE Remote Controle Boat Championship, modern sailing, and kayaking competitions for people of determination, which were organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club yesterday as part of the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival, witnessed strong competition among the contestants to win one of the first three places, as the champions were crowned in a major ceremony in front of the headquarters. The club is on Abu Dhabi Corniche.
The Abu Dhabi Marine Festival is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and includes 15 tournaments and activities, including traditional and modern events, held on the breakwater.
Omar Issa Hassan topped the Cel 2 category in the Wireless Boat Championship, while Azzam Issa Hassan won first place in the Cel 3 category, and Nasser Ali Abbas Al Balushi won first place in the Cel 4 category.
In the modern rowing competitions, Singaporean Lucas Kaw won first place in the General Optimist competitions, and his compatriot Desiree Lee topped the women’s competitions, while first place in the Juniors competitions went to Khalifa Ahmed Al Rumaithi.
In the public competitions, Elka 4, Majid Al Marzouqi won first place, Mohammed Marwan came second, Saif Tariq Al Marzouki came third, Camellia Al Qubaisi topped the women’s competition, Marwa Al Hammadi came second, and Al Yazia Al Hammadi came third, while first place in the junior category went to Mohammed Marwan, and he came second. Abdullah Al Marzouqi and Marwan Al Hammadi came third.
The first place in the Elka 6 competition was won by Hamza Al Ali, Othman Al Hammadi came second, and Mohammed Abdul Karim came third.
In the kayaking race for people of determination, Sulaiman Al Hammadi and Saif Al Nuaimi won first place, and Saleh Fahad Hatroush topped the individual race.
The winners were honored by Salem Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, Hazza Mohammed Al Junaibi, Director of the Marine Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Marine, and Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Head of the Club’s Heritage Racing Department.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the Abu Dhabi Marine Club will organize the Al Bwanish Race as part of the heritage events and activities program, where registrations have witnessed a large turnout, and this race is the first within the calendar of heritage races at the festival.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Head of the Heritage Races Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, confirmed that the technical, logistical, and organizational arrangements for holding the marine heritage races at the festival have been completed, pointing out that the Al Bwanish races attract large numbers of sailors and witness strong and exciting competition among the participants.
He added that the festival activities are proceeding according to the prepared program, which has made it easier for the participants to attend the races and interact with the activities in the heritage village. The coming days of the festival will witness the organization of many competitions in traditional and heritage marine sports, and modern sports, during which the participants are expected to present strong and enjoyable performances.
