Al Hamriyah and Abu Dhabi clubs lead the modern rowing championship

Abu Dhabi, January 30, 2024: The Modern Rowing Championship, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club as part of the Abu Dhabi Marine Festival, witnessed a large turnout in participation in 13 different categories, and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports and Al Hamriya Clubs competed for the first places.
The festival, which is held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, includes 15 traditional and modern tournaments and events on the breakwater.
The men's singles competition was topped by Hamad Al Matrooshi from Al Hamriya Club, his teammate Ahmed Al Hammadi came second, and Yahya Al Hammadi from Abu Dhabi Club came third. “Al Hamriya” won first place in the men's singles competition under 23 years of age through Hamad Al Shamsi, and “Abu Dhabi” competitor Axel Rudy came. Secondly, then Sultan Al Shamsi “Al Hamriyah” third.
The women's singles race was led by Abu Dhabi Club competitor Goksi Aslan, second was Bushra Ibrahim Qadri from Al Hamriya Club, third place was won by Ohood Musabih (Abu Dhabi), and the youth singles under 18 years of age were topped by Al Hamriya Club, and Sultan Ahmed Al Shamsi came first, Zayed Obaid Al Shamsi came second, and Zayed third came. In the men’s doubles, “Al Hamriyah” won first place through Hamad Amer Al Shamsi and Sultan Ahmed Al Shamsi.
The men's double duo was won by Hamad Al Matroushi and Ahmed Al Hammadi from Al Hamriyah. Al Hamriyah also topped the double competition for youth under 18 years old, with Mayed Al Mahmari and Zayed Al Shamsi, and Abu Dhabi Club won first place in the women's double-double competition with Ohood Musabih and Goksi Aslan. “Al-Hamriyah” won second place via Bushra Qadri and Hamda Qadri.
“Al-Hamriya” took the lead in the men’s quartet through Ahmed Al-Hammadi, Hamad Al-Matroushi, Khamis Al-Shamsi, and Mubarak Al-Yami. “Al-Hamriyah” also won first place in the men’s under-23 quad competition through Hamad Amer Al-Shamsi and Sultan Ahmed Al-Shamsi, and “Al-Hamriyah” also topped the double-quad for women and juniors.
The winners were crowned by Salem Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, Hazza Mohammed Al Junaibi, Director of the Marine Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Marine, Mohammed Al Obaidli, Secretary General of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, and Salem Al Shamsi, a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors.
Salem Al Rumaithi congratulated the male and female first-place winners in all categories, thanked all the participants for their efforts during the tournament, and praised the great participation of the Abu Dhabi Marine and Al Hamriyah Clubs, and the high competitive spirit demonstrated by the participants in all categories.
He added that modern sports, including modern rowing, find great demand in all categories, especially the competitions of young men and women, who represent a broad base for future champions, and such tournaments are a good opportunity to hone their talents and develop their artistic abilities.
