The boat "Asifat Al-Hazem" wins the title of the heritage race at the Al Dhafra Marine Festival

Al Dhafra, February 18, 2024: The boat “Decisive Storm 27”, owned by Al Nokhatha Abdullah Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, won the title of the heritage race, which was held yesterday, Saturday, as part of the heritage races at the Al Dhafra Marine Festival, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative The Governor of the Al Dhafra Region, whose competitions are held on the waters of Al Mughira Beach in the Al Dhafra Region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

“Al-Hadi 29” came in second place, owned by Nokhatha Abdullah Sabah Muhammad Al-Rumaithi, and “Al-Bazum 11” came in third place, owned by Nokhatha Hashem Saeed Sabah Al-Rumaithi.

The race was held in an ideal atmosphere, with a large participation of boats, and a crowd watching the competitions from the beach.

Traditional and modern races continue at the festival in its 15th session, as the Jinana Regatta race for 22-foot sailboats will be held next Friday. In contrast, the Al Dhafra Regatta and Marawah races for 43-foot sailboat races will be held on Saturday.

Zayed Sari Al Mazrouei, member of the organizing committee, appreciated the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, for the festival, stressing that this sponsorship is a major guarantee of success, noting that the diversity of events gave the event great vitality, and attracted large numbers of followers, especially in Heritage races, which were a great addition to the festival’s activities.
He said: “The vision and support of the wise leadership in preserving the maritime heritage enhances the path of transferring the UAE’s maritime heritage to generations with its values and national identity so that the process continues, and these details are passed on from one generation to another.”

He added: “Heritage races are prevalent among their fans, participants, and followers, and this is evident in all the races that are held during national festivals or events, which indicates the close connection of the nation’s youth with these maritime events that express the ancient Emirati authenticity of this maritime heritage.”
Zayed Sari Al Mazrouei praised the efforts made by the pilots and sailors during the race, which created a wonderful epic on the waters of Al Mughira Beach. He also praised the cooperation of the participants with the organizing team and their adherence to the race regulations, which led to the event's success.
