Crowning the winners of the Jinana Sailing Ships Race at the Al Dhafra Marine Festival

Al Dhafra, February 25 / WAM / The ship “Zelzal”, owned by its owner and Nokhatha Abdullah Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, was crowned the winner of the Jinana Sailing Ships Race, 22-foot class, “yesterday, Saturday”, as part of the activities of the 15th session of the Al Dhafra Marine Festival, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan. Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler’s representative in the Al Dhafra region, and his competitions are being held on the waters of Al Mughira Beach in the Al Dhafra region, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. The festival, which witnesses many heritage and sporting activities and events, including maritime heritage, concludes today, Sunday.
In second place came the mount "Bu Dhabi", owned by Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, and driven by Nokhadha Ahmed Ismail Al Marzouqi, while in third place was the mount "Yuv", owned by Zayed Tariq Salem Saeed Al Hosani, led by Al Nokhadha Sultan Muhammad Al Marzouqi.
The first three place winners were crowned by Salem Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, Captain Saif Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Marine, Obaid Al Mazrouei, member of the festival’s organizing committee, Majid Atiq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Younis Fath Ali Al Khaja, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank. The race started from Janana Island for a distance of 7 nautical miles towards the finish line on Al-Mughira Beach, with the participation of more than 55 loaders, and it is the last of the traditional races in the festival.
Khalifa Al Rumaithi, Head of the Heritage Racing Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, praised the wise leadership’s support for the efforts aimed at preserving Emirati heritage in general, and marine heritage in particular, and appreciated the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, for the Al Dhafra Marine Festival, and the support His Highness for marine heritage races in all festivals and occasions.
He said: During the Jinana Sailing Bearings Race, the young sailors gave a distinctive presentation of the art of sailing this category of sailing bearings, with great enthusiasm and a desire to reach the finish line first, which gave the race great excitement in all its stages, which the crowds followed from Al-Mughira Beach.
He added: The Al Dhafra Marine Festival formed a platform to present the authentic Emirati heritage in all its details to the followers, including the marine heritage races, which received great attention when developing the festival’s program and activities, as well as through the follow-up it received from the event’s audience.
