Atlas "12" Victory in Ghanada Sailing Bearings Race, 60-Foot Category

On June 9, 2024, in Abu Dhabi, the dhow "Atlas 12", owned by Captain Ahmed Rashid Juma Rashid Al Suwaidi, emerged victorious in the Ghanada Dhow Race for 60-foot dhows. This prestigious event was organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, marking the conclusion of the heritage and traditional racing season.

The second-place honor went to "Shumookh 122", owned by Captain Ali Taresh Atiq Ahmed Al Qubaisi, while "Alawi 150", owned by His Excellency Mohammed bin Thaloub Salem Al Darei and captained by Captain Khalid Taresh Atiq Al Qubaisi, secured the third position. A total of 90 dhows, carrying over 2,000 sailors, participated in the race, setting sail from the starting line near Khalifa Port and covering a 25-nautical mile course to the finish line at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club headquarters on the capital's Corniche.

The winners were honored by Bakhit Al Qubaisi, Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and Majid Atiq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at the club, amidst jubilation among the captains and sailors. Al Qubaisi commended the success of the heritage and traditional races, attributing it to the unwavering support of the wise leadership in preserving marine heritage. He highlighted the significant role played by the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan in elevating the status of the Ghannadha Dhow Race, underscoring the event's broad impact and value.

Extending congratulations to the winning participants, Al Qubaisi expressed well wishes to all competitors. He lauded the flawless organization of the race, acknowledging the participants' enthusiastic engagement that showcased a rich heritage narrative filled with dedication, endeavor, and outstanding performance.
