Abu Dhabi, August 20, 2024: The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has successfully wrapped up the "Abu Dhabi Summer Nokhatha" program, which took place from July 6 to August 20, 2024. This year, the program saw an impressive participation of 232 sailors, highlighting the growing interest in maritime sports among the youth.
This engaging and comprehensive program was organized in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Maritime over an extensive 40-day period. Events were conducted in three prime locations: the "Breaker" in Abu Dhabi, Al Mirfa City, and Dalma Island, which hosted the sailing competitions for the very first time.
The second edition of the "Abu Dhabi Summer Nokhatha" program built on the success of its inaugural season. Participants received hands-on training and instruction from expert trainers affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy. The curriculum was designed to enhance participants’ marine skills, covering theoretical and practical aspects of sailing. Sailors learned essential skills including sailing techniques, understanding wind patterns, and effectively managing bearings.
Salem Al Rumaithi, the General Manager of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, emphasized the importance of such programs in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club. He noted that the training not only enriched the sailors’ skills but also reinforced their connection to marine and heritage sports.
The positive outcomes from the training and practical experiences have equipped the participants with vital knowledge and skills in sailing. As the program concludes, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club looks forward to continuing its commitment to fostering a passion for marine sports in the community.
