"Victory for 'Toofan' in the Yasat Dhow Sailing Race"

Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, November 8, 2024: Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, honored the winners of the Yasat Dhow Sailing Race (60-foot category), held today as part of the second edition of the Yasat Festival. The event was hosted in the city of Sila, Al Dhafra region, Abu Dhabi Emirate, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

The awarding ceremony was attended by Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Acting Executive Director of the Festivals and Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and Salem Al Remeithi, General Manager of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.

First place was claimed by the dhow *Toofan* (No. 21), captained by Ahmed Al Marzouqi. Second place went to the dhow *Hasheem* (No. 199), captained by Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, while third place was secured by the dhow *Zalzal* (No. 25), captained by Marwan Abdullah Al Marzouqi.

The race saw the participation of 95 dhows from various emirates of the UAE, competing over a distance of 20 nautical miles. A total of AED 5 million was allocated in prizes for the winners, top-ranked competitors, and participants. The first-place winner received AED 240,000, the second-place winner AED 210,000, and the third-place winner AED 200,000.
