Under the patronage of Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa, The UAE Wakeboard & Wakesurf Championship kicks off in Abu Dhabi on November 22.

Abu Dhabi, November 20, 2024: Under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the first round of the UAE Wakeboard & Wakesurf Championship will kick off at the Corniche Breakwater in Abu Dhabi on November 22 and will continue for three days until November 24. The championship also features Wake Surf competitions, adding an exciting element to the event.  

The championship includes various categories, such as Juniors, Men’s Beginners, Men’s Freeride, Women’s Beginners, Men’s Open Surf, Women’s Open, Women’s Freeride, Men’s Intermediate, Women’s Amateur, Men’s Amateur, Women’s Amateur Skim, Men’s Amateur Skim, Men’s Open Skim, and Women’s Open Skim. The competitions will be held in several stages, including qualifiers and various challenges, following the event's schedule.  

This championship is part of the marine season agenda of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, which has been organizing wakeboard and wakesurf championships for the seventh consecutive season, aiming to promote this sport and enrich diverse marine activities.  

More than 90 competitors from various countries have registered for the championship, reflecting global interest in this sport. Participating countries include Greece, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the United States, France, Finland, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Oman, Jordan, and others.  

Nasser Al Dhaheri, Acting Director of the Marine Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, expressed his great delight at the participation of athletes from around 13 nationalities, adding global value and growing popularity to the event. He also noted that the Corniche Breakwater serves as an ideal venue for challenges and competitions, allowing participants to showcase their skills and compete for championship titles.  

Al Dhaheri emphasized that the competition is a unique opportunity for young talents to shine on the water. He highlighted that the participants possess advanced skills that enable precise control in skiing and scoring, with freestyle moves determining the winners in each category.  

Each contestant will have five minutes to perform their best stunts, with evaluations based on control skills, water performance, and varying speeds according to the type of boat used. The competition is expected to draw significant audience engagement, adding excitement and enhancing the overall atmosphere of the event.
