Abu Dhabi, December 10, 2024: The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club has announced the organization of the Sheikh Zayed Festival Dhow Sailing Race, scheduled for next Saturday, December 14, on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, specifically at the Breakwater. This event is part of the club's marine calendar for the season.

The race will start from Lulu Island, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles, and will conclude at the club's headquarters. The event is expected to witness the participation of more than fifty boats.

The race marks the fourth round of the dhow sailing series for this season, following the success of the previous rounds. The third round, held during the Al Sila Marine Festival, saw "Toufan 21" claim first place, followed by “Marban 61” in second, and “Al Hadi 29” in third.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, emphasized the club’s commitment to preserving Emirati maritime heritage, which is an integral part of the nation’s identity and history. He stated:  

 "Dhow sailing races are not merely sports competitions but also serve as cultural and heritage messages that aim to pass down our maritime values and traditions to future generations. At the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, we strive to organize events that embody the spirit of maritime heritage while continually developing these races to align with international standards."

Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the club’s efforts to ensure that every marine event becomes a platform for strengthening national identity by preserving the rich maritime traditions. He said:

 "We believe in our role as a sports institution in fostering the community’s connection to its cultural heritage while delivering high-quality events that reflect the prestige of Abu Dhabi and the UAE on the global stage."

He concluded by expressing gratitude:  

 "We thank the wise leadership for their continuous support, and we extend our thanks to all sailors and captains participating in these races, who demonstrate great commitment. We promise to continue delivering initiatives that highlight and preserve our maritime heritage."
