"Al Hadi 29" Crowned Champion of Sheikh Zayed Festival Dhow Sailing Race

Abu Dhabi, December 15, 2024: The dhow Al Hadi 29, owned by Nukhada Abdullah Sabah Mohammed Al Rumaithi, claimed victory in the Sheikh Zayed Festival Dhow Sailing Race, organized by the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club. The race featured 43 participating dhows that sailed under ideal conditions from Lulu Island, the starting point, covering a distance of 7 nautical miles to the finish line at the club's headquarters at the Breakwater in Abu Dhabi.  

The second place was secured by Al Tabr 55, owned by Nukhada Mohammed Suhail Khalfan Al Muhairi, while Tufan 21, owned by Hamad Rashid Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi and led by Nukhada Ahmed Ismail Ahmed Al Marzouqi, finished in third place.  

The race, held as part of the traditional dhow sailing program organized by the club during the season, witnessed intense competition among the participating dhows at every stage. Spectators gathered along the Abu Dhabi Corniche to watch the exciting event, which was marked by the enthusiasm of the nukhadas and sailors.  

The participating teams showcased an outstanding display of traditional maritime heritage, with small dhows battling fiercely for the top positions. The competition remained close, with positions frequently changing until the final meters, creating a spectacular scene that celebrated the rich seafaring traditions of the UAE.
