Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team Continues Intensive Training for the 2025 International Season

Abu Dhabi, February 14, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team is conducting intensive training sessions on the waters of Abu Dhabi Corniche, preparing for the 2025 international season. The team’s drivers are showcasing their skills and expertise, reaffirming their full readiness for the upcoming global competitions. The team is focused on enhancing its global dominance by developing new technologies and strategies, while strengthening its lineup with top-tier powerboat racing talents.

Formula 1: A Strong Duo Aiming for the Championship

The first round of the Formula 1 World Championship will kick off in Vietnam on May 1, with Swedish driver Erik Stark joining Emirati star Thani Al Qemzi in Team Abu Dhabi’s lineup. The two form a powerful duo, fully capable of competing for the world title. Stark is determined to deliver a strong performance and contend for the championship, despite the significant challenges that the new season presents.

Formula 2: World Champions and a Promising Newcomer

In the Formula 2 category, the new season welcomes Salem Al Yafie, who makes the leap from Formula 4 to Formula 2 to gain valuable experience and advance in global competitions. Al Yafie will race in a third boat powered by a four-stroke engine, a first-time adaptation by Team Abu Dhabi as part of a gradual transition over the next two years from two-stroke to four-stroke engines, aligning with upcoming technical regulations in powerboat racing.

Leading Team Abu Dhabi’s Formula 2 lineup is five-time world champion Rashid Al Qemzi, who clinched his latest title in the 2024 season. His teammate Mansoor Al Mansoori, who secured third place in the 2024 world rankings, further reinforces the team’s dominance on the global stage.

Comprehensive Preparations and Training Program

The team is undergoing a rigorous training program, including performance testing, technical data analysis, and race strategy improvements, ensuring strong results in the season-opening round in Brindisi, Italy, at the end of June 2025.
