Al Suwaidi: The 30-ft Traditional Rowing Race Strengthens National Identity with Wide Youth Participation

Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra – February 21, 2025: The Al Dhafra Marine Festival will witness the launch of the Traditional Rowing Race (30-ft category) for Emirati citizens on Sunday, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. A total of 20 boats will participate in the race, which will cover a distance of 3,000 meters, with oars measuring 1.8 meters in length. The event offers a prize pool of AED 250,000, with the first-place winner receiving AED 30,000.
Saif Saif Al Suwaidi, a board member of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, emphasized that the race aligns with the club’s strategy to support efforts in preserving the UAE’s maritime heritage while providing young Emiratis with the opportunity to participate in races that deeply reflect the nation’s traditional seafaring culture.
Al Suwaidi added, "Traditional races always witness great participation from the youth of our nation, who are keen to be present at various heritage events and activities. Their active involvement helps them deepen their understanding of the legacy of our forefathers while strengthening their national identity."
He further highlighted that the Traditional Rowing Race reinforces the club’s commitment to preserving national heritage, fostering fair competition, and reviving traditional sports that form an integral part of the UAE’s cultural legacy.
The race is expected to attract a large audience of marine sports enthusiasts, as the festival features a variety of activities that blend sports and heritage, offering an immersive maritime experience for all attendees.
