Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan crowns the winners of the Murwah 43ft category race.

Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra, February 22, 2025: The Murwah 43ft category race, held as part of a high-profile sports program aimed at enhancing marine activities in the UAE, witnessed fierce competition and remarkable enthusiasm among the skilled Nokhatha  (boat captains).  

In a prestigious awards ceremony attended by prominent sports and media figures, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, crowned the winners and honored the participants.  

 A Challenging Race with Strategic Adjustments  

The race covered a distance of 10 nautical miles, posing a true test of the Nokhatha’s skills and the capabilities of the participating teams. The organizing committee ensured optimal conditions for the competition, making a crucial decision to relocate the starting point near Abu Al Abyad due to shifting wind speeds while keeping the finish line at Al Mugheirah Beach. This swift decision-making allowed competitors to complete the race in just 45 minutes, showcasing both the efficiency of the organizers and the adaptability of the teams.  

 Final Standings:  

1st Place: Zelzal 217 – Owned by H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, captained by Mohammed Abdullah Al Marzouqi.  

2nd Place: Hashim 153 – Owned by the same, with Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi at the helm.  

3rd Place: Ghazi 103 – Owned by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, captained by Ahmed Saeed Salem Al Rumaithi.
