“Zelzal 125” Claims Victory in Thrilling 22-Ft Dhow Sailing Race in Abu Dhabi

UAE, Abu Dhabi, April 20, 2025: ُThe Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club organized the 22-foot Dhow Sailing Race, with the participation of 65 sailors, in ideal sea conditions and a highly competitive atmosphere that reflected the authentic spirit of Emirati maritime heritage.
The race witnessed great excitement up until the final meters, as Boat No. 33 led the competition for most of the race before falling back in the decisive moments due to a delay during the khayour maneuver. This allowed Boat “Zelzal” No. 125, owned and captained by Abdullah Marwan Al Marzouqi, to seize the lead and secure first place with distinction.
Boat “Al Sa’ab” took second place. It is owned by Rashid Hassan Ali Al Hosani and captained by Sultan Mohammed Al Marzouqi, while Boat “Dahis” No. 18, owned and captained by Abdulrahman Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi, came in third.
The winners were honored by H.E. Majid Abdullah Al Muhairi, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in the presence of Nasser Al Dhaheri, Acting Director of the Marine Sports Department, and Khalifa (name to be completed).
The Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club affirmed that this race is part of a series of traditional competitions aimed at preserving maritime heritage and passing it on to future generations, while also promoting community participation and encouraging youth to stay connected to their roots and national identity.
