Great Ambition for Abu Dhabi Team in the Opening Round of the Formula 2 Powerboat World Championship in Italy

Brindisi, Italy – 27 June 2025: The Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team, representing Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, is set to compete in the opening round of the UIM F2 World Championship this weekend, hosted in the Italian city of Brindisi on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29. The round will see participation from a group of elite international racers, with high hopes for a strong start to the 2025 season.

Leading the team in this round is boat number 1, driven by Rashed Al Qemzi — a five-time world champion in the F2 class — alongside boat number 35, piloted by Mansoor Al Mansoori. The team aims to retain its global standing and defend the world title won last season, when Al Qemzi secured the 2024 overall championship and Al Mansoori finished third.

The 2025 F2 World Championship promises a highly competitive calendar, featuring five rounds under the umbrella of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), beginning in Italy and continuing in Lithuania, Norway, and Portugal.

The program for the opening round kicks off today, Saturday, June 28, with official qualifying sessions for the F2 boats. Q1 is scheduled to begin at 17:00 local time, followed by Q2 at 18:15, and concluding with Q3 from 18:30 to 18:50, which will determine the starting positions for the main race.

On Sunday, June 29, the action continues with the Repechage Round at 10:00 a.m., followed by the official warm-up from 11:00 to 12:00. The Italian Grand Prix for Formula 2 will begin at 18:30, and the round will close with the official podium ceremony at 20:00.

Team Abu Dhabi is recognized as a powerhouse in global marine sports and has secured the F2 World Championship title on numerous occasions, most recently in 2024 with Rashed Al Qemzi. This season, Al Qemzi returns with a strong ambition to defend his title and add another achievement to the team’s decorated history.
