04/08/2025
Oman, August 4, 2025 – The Abu Dhabi Modern Sailing Team has achieved outstanding performance benchmarks during its intensive training camp in the coastal area of Ras Al Hadd, Oman, as part of its preparations for upcoming regional and international championships.
Despite challenging weather conditions, including wind speeds of 24 knots and waves reaching heights of two meters, the team recorded impressive sailing speeds of up to 30 km/h. The camp benefited from ideal maritime conditions, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 28°C.
The team continues to implement its rigorous training program, which runs until August 8. The schedule includes daily sailing distances of approximately 40 kilometers and five-hour sessions in a marine environment considered among the best in the region for such sports.
The Abu Dhabi ILCA 4 team features a selection of elite national talents: Abdullah Yahya Al Zubaidi, Abdullah Mohammed Al Neyadi, Omar Qais Qandeel, Abdullah Fahad Al Muhairi, Saleh Hassan Al Hammadi, Abdulrahman Abdullah Al Bahri, Abdullah Youssef Al Hammadi, and Saif Tariq Al Marzouqi, under the supervision of coach Patrick Lutomsky.
This training camp is part of a long-term development strategy overseen by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, under the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, aimed at strengthening the team’s presence in global competitions and providing optimal training conditions in diverse marine environments that enhance the sailors' experience.
The team’s first official participation following the camp will be in the ILCA Championship hosted by Oman in mid-August — one of the major upcoming international events on the team’s calendar.
