Abu Dhabi, UAE – September 15, 2025: The curtain fell on the fourth round of the Formula 2 World Powerboat Championship in the city of Pezo, Portugal, a challenging and complex event due to the fluctuating weather conditions that directly affected the racers’ performance and the race course.

Italian Giacomo Saki secured first place, followed by Swedish racer Helmer Wiberg in second, and Swedish Matilda Wiberg finishing third.

As for Team Abu Dhabi’s participation, veteran Rashid Al Qamzi finished seventh, while his teammate Salem Al Yafie came in twelfth. These results effectively dashed the team’s hopes of defending the world championship title this season after a series of unfortunate circumstances and difficult conditions during their races.

With these standings, Swedish racer Helmer Wiberg leads the overall rankings with 39 points, as all eyes turn to the fifth and final round, set to take place next weekend in Vila Velha, Portugal. This round will be decisive in determining the world champion.

Thani Al Qamzi, Team Manager of Abu Dhabi’s powerboat team, emphasized that the season is not over yet for Abu Dhabi. He stated:

“Despite the challenging weather conditions and losing the chance to defend the title, we still have an important final round in Vila Velha. The team will give their utmost effort to reach the podium and raise the UAE flag high. What matters most is that Team Abu Dhabi remains present and strong until the very last moment.”
