UAE, Abu Dhabi – September 30, 2025: Under the supervision of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, the Abu Dhabi Corniche will host the fifth round of the UAE Sailing Championship this weekend, organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and its Academy, with a record participation of 100 sailors representing various sailing schools and marine clubs across the country.
The competitions include the Optimist class for young sailors, considered a key stepping stone for discovering talent and developing skills, in addition to the ILCA classes (ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7), which allow participation from sailors of all ages and levels. This ensures the championship unites juniors, youth, and senior sailors under one umbrella in a single major event.
The races will begin on Saturday in an atmosphere of excitement on the water, and continue on Sunday with the final day, which will feature the crowning of the standout champions across the different categories.
In a remarkable initiative that reflects the values of community inclusion, the club, in cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, will organize a special sailing race for athletes of determination on Sunday—affirming the role of sport as a bridge that unites all segments of society and offers them equal opportunities to compete and shine.
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, stressed that the championship has become a key platform for creating the champions of tomorrow. He said:
“We are proud to have achieved a record number of participants this year. The participation of nearly 100 sailors across all categories reflects the stature of the championship and its role in developing the skills of sailors. We are equally proud to organize a special race for People of Determination in cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organization, which embodies the values of inclusivity and gives everyone the chance to excel on the water.”
