UAE – Abu Dhabi | 9 January 2026 : In a strategic move that further strengthens Abu Dhabi’s position as a global destination for marine sports and sports tourism, Team Abu Dhabi Powerboat has announced the signing of world-class driver Jonas Andersson to represent the team in the upcoming season of the UIM F1H2O World Championship, one of the most prestigious marine racing championships on the international stage.

The contract was signed at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in the presence of Thani Al Qemzi, Executive Director of Team Abu Dhabi for Modern Sports, who emphasized that the signing goes beyond its sporting dimension to represent a qualitative addition to Abu Dhabi’s journey in attracting elite global talents and reinforcing its status as a capital of marine sports and competitive sports tourism.

Al Qemzi noted that the addition of Jonas Andersson reflects the growing global confidence in Abu Dhabi’s marine sports ecosystem, supported by advanced infrastructure, professional organization, and a world-class environment capable of hosting and developing champions, while also promoting the city as an integrated sports tourism destination.

He added that Team Abu Dhabi operates under a strategic vision aimed at linking sporting achievement with tourism promotion, strengthening the emirate’s international presence through global championships that enjoy wide audience reach and contribute to showcasing Abu Dhabi’s maritime identity and its ability to attract major international events.

For his part, Jonas Andersson expressed his pride in joining Team Abu Dhabi, affirming that representing the emirate in the world championship marks an important milestone in his career, while praising Abu Dhabi’s prominent position on the global map of marine sports.
