Abu Dhabi launches preparations: Team Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Powerboat Team concludes its training camp ahead of the 2026 season.

UAE, Abu Dhabi, 14 January 2025: Team Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Powerboat Team concluded its intensive training camp in the capital, Abu Dhabi, as part of an early preparation program ahead of the launch of the 2026 season. The high-intensity camp focused on enhancing technical and physical readiness, strengthening team cohesion, and further developing performance across all areas related to international competition.
The camp featured advanced training sessions aimed at improving control at high speeds, refining maneuver precision, increasing responsiveness under changing race conditions, and conducting a comprehensive technical evaluation of the boats—reflecting the team’s commitment to achieving maximum readiness before the official start of the new season.
A select group of Team Abu Dhabi racers took part in the camp, led by world-class racer Jonas Andersson, alongside UAE stars Thani Al Qamzi, Rashed Al Qamzi, and Mansoor Al Mansoori. Their participation added significant strength to the training program, which was delivered under a meticulous technical vision designed to reach the highest international performance standards.
The training camp came at a particularly important time, especially following the addition of Jonas Andersson to Team Abu Dhabi’s roster. Recognized as one of the most prominent names in Formula 1 powerboat racing, Andersson brings extensive experience and an outstanding career, having been crowned World Champion three times. His addition represents a qualitative boost to the team’s system both technically and competitively. The move also enables the integration of Andersson’s advanced expertise in engine management and precise technical setups with Team Abu Dhabi’s accumulated engineering experience—contributing to the development of training methodology, raising the level of technical analysis, and improving boat performance in line with the highest global standards ahead of the 2026 season.
In statements following the conclusion of the camp, Team Abu Dhabi Team Manager Guido Cappellini emphasized that the latest training phase was a key milestone within the team’s plan for the upcoming season, stating:
“The training camp in Abu Dhabi was strong and intensive, and it reflected a high level of commitment and focus from everyone. We concentrated on the details that make the difference in racing, both in terms of technical boat preparation and enhancing the racers’ readiness. The team is moving in the right direction, and we have great ambitions for the 2026 season.”
Meanwhile, Thani Al Qamzi, Executive Director of Team Abu Dhabi and Modern Sports, stressed that early preparation reflects the identity and professional approach of Team Abu Dhabi, saying:
