Cagliari, Italy – Sunday, May 31, 2026 : Abu Dhabi Team concluded its participation in the opening round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship in Cagliari, Italy, with a total of 14 points, placing the team third in the overall teams’ standings at the start of the new season.
Team driver Jonas Andersson secured second place in the Sprint Race, earning a podium finish and adding 9 valuable points to Abu Dhabi’s tally, providing the team with a positive start to the championship campaign.
In the main race, Andersson crossed the finish line in sixth place, collecting an additional 5 points. However, the result fell short of the team’s expectations, given its strong technical package and extensive experience at this level of competition.
The main race saw the retirement of several key contenders, including Victory Team driver Shaun Torrente and Sharjah Team’s Rusty Wyatt, which significantly influenced the race dynamics and reshuffled the battle at the front.
Meanwhile, the UAE teams delivered a strong overall performance, with Sharjah Team driver Stefan Arand securing a podium finish, underlining the competitiveness of the UAE teams in the opening round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship.
Abu Dhabi Team also saw mixed fortunes within its lineup, as driver Erik Stark finished eighth in the main race, collecting 3 points for the team, while teammate Rashid Al Qemzi was forced to retire from the race and failed to score any points in the opening round.
Despite the Sprint Race podium result, the opening round did not fully reflect Abu Dhabi Team’s true potential, as the team is traditionally a strong contender for race victories and world championship titles. The team will now focus on regaining its strongest form in the upcoming rounds, relying on its technical expertise and competitive consistency to fight back in the title race.
With a total of 14 points from the opening round, Abu Dhabi Team currently sits third in the teams’ standings and remains firmly in contention as the season progresses.
